GameSpot, May 2021
“The video game band Super MadNES is releasing a new studio album, Fantasy Battles, which is inspired by the music of Final Fantasy. GameSpot is happy to be able to exclusively reveal the music video for the band’s “Force Your Way” track from Final Fantasy VIII.
Fantasy Battles aims to honor the battle themes from the Final Fantasy series, while it also features a cover of the “True Survivor” song from the movie Kung Fury.”
Decibel Magazine, March 2017
“Super MadNES has more than one nerd performing the music. That pays off – the interplay livens up the proceedings considerably. Blasters & Daggers (self-released) is a split album, but not between bands – it’s divided between songs from Mega Man X and Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts.”
OC Weekly, July 2019
“Super MadNES have taken the video game music scene by surprise since their formation by adding traditional heavy metal flair to retro fan-favorite Nintendo soundtracks–a combo that would have likely concerned most mothers in the ‘80s. The collision of influences such as Judas Priest, Rainbow, Accept and Iron Maiden with the passion for Castlevania III, Batman, Megaman X and Robocop produces one hell of a performance to show-goers.”
Daily Bulletin, January 2019
“As video games have grown in popularity, so have bands devoted to playing the music of these games. The band Super MadNES combines heavy metal and retro video game music. The Los Angeles band regularly tours the United States performing at gaming and hard rock events and festivals. They have become quite popular and established themselves as one the most hardworking video game bands around, releasing music every year.”
